“Why Apple should launch iTunes movie rentals now”

December 18, 2007

This can’t happen soon enough for me. We have a Mac Mini hooked up to the TV, and I watch previews on Front Row. Those previews are the perfect selling opportunity to sell me movies. If I had a “rent now” feature and a bigger library of video previews to watch, Blockbuster would be a […]

“Why Don’t DVR Owners Skip Commercials?”

December 18, 2007

Why? Pretty obviously, I would have thought, it’s because the viewer gets immersed in the entertainment (we are taping what we want to watch, after all) and forgets it’s not live. We do that all the time here. Give me a PVR technology that alerts me to the message, and I’ll remember all the time.

December 16, 2007

This is utterly bizarre. Romney appears to have responded to the controversy over his recent trainwreck of a speech on religion, and the widespread criticism of his inaction in the face of his Church’s apartheid policy in its priesthood (which made it into Frank Rich’s column today – Rachel has the state of play), by […]

What I Learned Today About Hannah Montana Tickets

December 15, 2007

Not a darned thing about StubHub, which is the point of the NYT piece. What I learned was that there are lots of folks paying $250 for a seat to a concert. Which means that there are far too many parents out there who have (much) more money than brains.
