“An All Around Excellent Restaurant”

Can I say that I’m awfully proud of our friend Garner Quain for the review that Frank Bruni gave his Charlottetown restaurant, flex mussels, in today’s NYT: “It’s an all-around excellent restaurant with a serious chef, Garner Quain, who has put together an extensive menu of seafood including clever tweaks of classics.” It is so darned exciting to see hard work and passion pay off. He must be over the moon. Update: I missed this the first time - the audio slideshow on the page is worth checking out, not least because it includes a piece on Johnny Flynn, who runs the Colville Bay Oyster Co. Johnny and his now world famous oysters are about 15 minutes down the road from where we spend the summer, so we’ve become big fans.

I know I ate my share of PEI mussels and oysters this summer but oh how I wish I could have an big icy feast of those Colville Bays right now!

As you know, as soon as I saw this earlier today I pinged you and the rest of my Spud Island mates. Wonderful piece, wonderful place, wonderful pretty much everything.

If only we knew somebody who was building a house handy all that wonderfulness…

    Oh, wait…
