Does Joost really have 500,000 subscribers?
Via Lost Remote, an article in the Hollywood Reporter about VH1 launching a new series on Joost, en masse 10 days before the first episode airs on VH1. A very cool development, to be sure. But the article notes that Joost now says it has 500,000 subscribers. The number caught my eye because I couldn’t help but wonder how many of those “subscribers” are users like me who dropped the app after tinkering with it a couple of times. I thought it was a nice idea, but too early days to justify any time. Which is the interesting metric for me - how many of those subscribers are spending any meaningful time using the app? It’s a stat that Joost must know, given the way the app works …
