Is RSS killing My Yahoo?

There’s a bit of a meme lately on folks dropping My Yahoo! as home page – Paul Kedrosky has the links and is guilty as charged. I used to start there but dropped it not long after I realized I was going to the web only through my reader. Turns out I don’t need My Yahoo! to aggregate for me – I use my choice of feeds and my reader to editorialize and aggregate – and the content is far superior to My Yahoo (especially since the MSM content I read comes in feeds too). Makes you wonder – if readers are the next browsers, what are the next portals?

i’m another former my.yahoo.com user who has moved on — my new portal is netvibes.com, which is both feed-reader and lots of other things… easier to use and configure. i don’t know why yahoo hasn’t launched a similar ajax-driven portal — it couldn’t be that hard, since both google and microsoft have done it (although not as well in my opinion).
