My cousin Dave tipped me off to SXSW’s music being available via BitTorrent.  Details at Dave’s blog.  I’m seeing speeds of approx 600 kB/s.  That’s over 2.5 gigs of music in just over an hour.  Numbers to make the RIAA and CRIA weep …. If you’re a Be Good Tanyas fan, apparently Po’ Girl has […]

Blogging is the Killer App of Community

March 12, 2005

My first title for this post was "Blogging and the Infinite Verticalisation of the Internet" – honestly, I have no idea whether verticalisation is a word or whether there even is a word for this concept, but it was a coy (too coy, so I changed it) introduction to something that’s been on my mind […]

Jetsgo Files for Bankruptcy Protection

March 12, 2005

Jetsgo, a Canadian discount carrier,  filed for bankruptcy protection yesterday.  This isn’t something I would ordinarily write about here, but I don’t practice bankruptcy law and one aspect of the case has me a little puzzled – I’m hoping for some comments from those in the know that might shed some light on this. Cost Over-runs Because of Failure to Secure Access to Source Code

March 9, 2005

Via Computerworld, a story about how cost over-runs at the Boston big dig contruction project arose because of a failure to secure access to source code. It sounds as though once the project came to phase #2, the developer of the software refused to deliver source code, and the resulting delays pushed the project considerably […]
