Is it finally happening? Has Apple finally figured out the alchemy required to make the Mac more than a niche player? The latest financials from Apple suggest a better-than-market growth spurt in Mac numbers and one has to wonder whether the combined effects of OSX, the Intel chip and iPod planet are amounting to something. Look for more acceleration as the Intel chip finds its way into Mac desktops, and as even more apps are released as universal binaries.
For my part, I’m not surprised. I recently switched to a Mac (a switch back, actually, after being a Windows guy for about 15 years) and, except for a few bumps along the way, am very happy with the OS and the hardware. And I’m more convinced than ever that if most people knew what it was like, they’d switch too.
