How do you find interesting content on the Web about culture, society and art?

Techmeme and Memeorandum are great services - they make it easy to find current content about technology and politics that is generating heat and light. But I’m interested in much more than technology and politics, and would love to find a great service that does what Gabe has done for other areas of interest. To date, I’ve had no luck, and as a result, I’m spending too much time reading about the good stuff that’s easy to find - technology and politics - and not enough reading the good stuff that isn’t. I suspect other web junkies are in the same boat, but if you’ve found something that works for you, let me know.

Rob, I think AideRSS might be useful. I stumbled upon a customised feed someone had made for FFFound! using them I come across neats bit of art all the time. To be honest, I’m not even sure how it works, but I’m assuming it can’t be too hard.

Also, Tumblr seems to have attracted a very artsy/intellectual userbase. I stumbled across http://avenues.tumblr.com , which is by a Torontonian and, through the incestuous Tumblr reblogging, found more. Daily Meh is a great one.

And there’s always the Fimoculous/Kottke/Waxy triumvirate, who seem equally interested in art and culture as they are in tech, but I’m sure you’re well aware of that.

Anyway - not exactly revelatory stuff, but it’s how I’ve expanded beyond the usual tech circle.

Interesting - but not very user friendly from an UI standpoint, is it? And not very engaging as an aggregator - no sense of the discussion, for example.
