“Pinched, Press Steps Off”
The NYT on how financially-strapped newspapers are sending fewer reporters to tag along on the campaign trail. This seems like a good thing to me - I can’t think now of any genuinely useful reporting to come from the campaign bus. And with the news media’s near-fetishization of McCain as an example, it seems evident that reporters on the trail are not able to maintain their skepticism and objectivity, however many of them there are. Give the job to someone else.
