“The red phone rang and rang and rang again”

Surprisingly, amid all the mindlessness of the MSM’s coverage of Monster-gate, little is being said of Power’s work reporting on the Clinton administration’s blind eye towards the Rwandan genocide. The ’sphere to the rescue. I’ve never thought Bill Clinton should be singled out for exclusive responsibility (I’m not suggesting that Power did this) - we ignored Rwanda simply because we’re all racists, and it matters little to us when people of colour die in faraway lands. But government should be ready to act even when individuals aren’t, and the Clinton administration has been given a pass on this because to indict it would be to expose our collective shame. I’ve always admired Samantha Power for refusing to succumb to that self-indulgence.
