At this point it strikes me as almost negligent - it’s certainly foolish - to suggest that adding 1,000 more troops is going to make a difference. And the idea that this Government - or any Government, for that matter - isn’t going to “sugercoat” what’s happening in Afghanistan, is simply juvenile, self-serving and not helpful.
