iTunes Movie Rentals in Canada
I can’t help but wonder how, when iTunes with Apple’s new movie rentals launches in Canada (let’s hope that’s not an “if”), the broadband providers are going to approach their customers who are heavy users - as I certainly will be. The service will be a direct competitor to video on demand and DVD rental. Is Rogers, for example, going to get more aggressive in shaping traffic? Will it change its pricing to bill me for that extra bandwidth? It’s early days yet, but as video emerges that is a meaningful alternative to what the broadband providers serve up in their VOD and rental businesses, this will become a more pressing issue for them. Update: More to my point. Updater: Confirmed.

I was thinking the exact same thing… those HD movies must be huge!
We have a USD visa card, so we’ll be trying it out here in Canada when it launches in the US. (All you need is a card attached to a US address.)
