Full credit to Peter for nailing the ridiculousness of Russian grasping for the North Pole in this comment: “This isn’t the 15th century. You can’t go around the world and just plant flags and say ‘We’re claiming this territory’”. All of which reminds me, now that I think of it, of Eddie Izzard’s “cunning use of flags” bit.

I love how I had type in ‘neocon’ to comment on this post :) Anyway – while I’m basically the opposite of a Conservative supporter, good on Mr. McKay. Who knew a Harper-led government would be the one to bring a bit of humour to Canadian politics?
