This is the headline – over a section (alas, no photos online) in today’s Globe featuring the pictures of BCE board members – that had me choking on my bratwurst this morning, as my brain briefly shut down, momentarily confused by the incongruity between the conflicting mental images of “business titan”, the gallery of crusty old white people that is the BCE board staring back at me over breakfast, and the rather extraordinary strategic incompetence that has led BCE these many years. Oh, and apropos of my comment in an earlier post about the inherent conflict in business blogging between telling it like it is and playing it nice for your friends in the community, let’s spend a few moments pondering exactly why the Globe feels it advantageous to suck up to this company and these particular individuals.
