And Things are Just Fine in Iraq
Curiously, while New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s withdrawal from the Republican party is being touted as a prelude to a run for the presidency, his mission seems drawn from pre 9/11 days. The NYT is reporting that his aides are working behind the scenes to identify states where “his positions on major issues — global warming, immigration, a crackdown on illegal guns — could resonate.” No mention at all of Iraq. The reason, of course, is that there is no policy on Iraq that can resonate. For both Republicans and Democrats, the issue is a trap.
