“I don’t really understand what a Web site is”
Sigh. From Reuters: “A British judge admitted on Wednesday he was struggling to cope with basic terms like “Web site” in the trial of three men accused of inciting terrorism via the Internet. … “The trouble is I don’t understand the language. I don’t really understand what a Web site is,” he told a London court during the trial of three men charged under anti-terrorism laws.” Note to self: the next time I’m judging a terrorism case, announce to a packed courtroom that I don’t understand the evidence.

Yikes. I know next to nothing about the law, but wouldn’t there be some implications for the trial?
Well, it’s litigation, and UK litigation at that. So I’d have to say that’s not my table (!) But it seemed darned strange to me to hear a judge warning everyone that he didn’t understand the evidence.
