Is Rogers Making an iPhone Announcement on April 2?

Word is spreading that Rogers is making an announcement of “A First in North America” on April 2 at an event to be co-hosted by William Shatner; I’m wondering whether it has something to do with the iPhone, which has been reported to be a Rogers exclusive in Canada – perhaps a release date and pricing announcement? The release I saw was directed to “Assignment / Business / Technology / Entertainment / Lifestyle Reporters, which I suppose could apply to just about everything that Rogers does. But meantime word is spreading that the iPhone is to be released, at least in the U.S., on June 11. Update: no, it’s “wireless video calling, turning your mobile handset into a webcam for face-to-face calling in real time with your friends, family and business associates”, aka ‘driving massive bandwidth charges’.

I notice that they are planning to give away some iPhones at the CNMAs, did Rogers make a promise to them?

Good point, Jevon – I noticed that too. Where are they coming from? They’d be useless unless provided by a Canadian telco, of course.
