Alvin Ailey in Toronto
Last night brought to Toronto a rapturous performance by the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. I’m a dance dummie - I haven’t a clue, really, and I’ve never really understood its appeal. No longer - last night’s performance was just about the most remarkable stage experience I’ve ever seen. The rest of the crowd felt the same way - the company was treated to endless curtain calls and applause that raised the roof. How to describe? Words fail.
