Good thoughts, Rob. When you are thinking about information, control and subversion in this context, it is useful to make the link to Garth Turner.

The authority/audience he gained through his use of social media was strong enough that he felt empowered enough to through off the whip and leave his party. Interesting observation is that he taped his Google Video before he met with the mainstream media. Cheers, Ian.

Does being transparent ruin a PR blog?...

My blogging friend Tony Hung pointed me towards a new wrinkle in the ongoing saga of Edelman and Wal-Mart: a story in MediaPost describes how the PR company has essentially come out of the closet on its involvement with two other Wal-Mart blogs —...

Hi Tony,

Yup - I've noticed that Andrew is ... er .... not spoken of highly in our world. And that Mathew likes the "M" word. :)

While I'm sure you'll get to it one day soon, Andrew Keen must be included on said "enemies of the blogosphere" list; not for PR buffoonery, but for the blanket denouncement of the web2.0 completely, and is for continued media hierarchy. I wonder where he places traditional PR on *that* list?

Mat points out that he's also writing a book.

"Social media has essentially atomized information control - that much is obvious now, and if anything the process is accelerating."

This is the best I've seen this put so far to date, and is EXACTLY why I love blogging so much. Found you at Techmeme, you have a new reader.

Try one of these blog honor badges to brighten up your day :o
