Bring Out Your Dead
The Star reports on Federal Liberal nomination corruption – including membership lists bearing the names of the dead. (The story runs aside an unfortunate photo of Joe Volpe looking like a “caught on video” victim – now at least we know whom the Star doesn’t support.) Many probably think of this activity as “shenanigans”, as in “those krazy kids, there they go again” kinds of shenanigans – but for the life of me I can’t understand why Canadians tolerate it. Why aren’t the parties and their guilty candidates run out of town on rails until they can demonstrate that they will not corrupt our electoral process? It’s our party system – they’re our parties – and “garbage in, garbage out”, after all. We have a compelling interest in ensuring a clean process.

The Star really supports, or doesn’t, anyone?
Canadians are so tolerant I’m frequently tempted to check for blood pressure.
Visiting Americans typically say, “You’re so polite, here!”.
I’m all for good manners, but at the same time starving for a society that passionately cares.
