Apple TV
As I suggested yesterday, but a little sooner than I expected, Jobs has in fact announced (it was his “one last thing” announcement) Apple TV – codenamed iTV, it’s a box – somewhat like a flatter Mac Mini – that sits between your Mac (or PC) and your TV and plays photos, music, video and podcasts. Ethernet, wireless, HDMI, component, USB2, analog and optical audio. Due in Q1 2007 for $299. Details at Engadget’s liveblog of the presentation. Pretty much as billed in the Gizmodo sneak peek (except for some details on the iTV box).
An impressive start and a nice kickoff to the battle for the family room. Let the games begin.
Update: NYT has more details and analysis.
