		<description>You are absolutely right, Raif. I was fortunate enough when starting my journalism career to have a mentor who at one time worked at the old Toronto Telegram. Among the many lessons he taught me was: teach those in power not to "mess with the press." He and I, and those of my generation, took our job of public advocacy very seriously. My greatest delight was in going after politicians to make them accountable, to ask the questions the public couldn't ask. The press now is a shadow of what it once was. And it shows in a public that is not well informed and doesn't seem to care.</description>
