Global Warming and MySpace

MySpace has been down for a day or so now, the victim of a power outage at its data centre (according to a comment on GigaOM, this facility). This is presumably the same power outage that took Dreamhost down on Saturday. Power outages seem to be increasing in frequency, particularly in air conditioning season. Are we seeing the result of the increasing strain put on the grid by the progressive effects of Global Warming? An interesting situation to be in, as everything moves on to the Web.

It might be something to do with the incredible heat we’re having in LA right now. The backyard pools are at 95 degrees and the air temp on Saturday was about 120. It’s over 100 now. There are rolling blackouts - my office was dark for an hour at lunch, and on the weekend after shopping hours blocks of downtown Arcadia were dark too

It is incredibly hot here and in some cases air conditioning is just making it bearable.
