On Apple Price Fixing
Mathew recently covered Apple’s $.99 song victory and noted that it’s not clear that we’re much better off with a dominant retailer setting price strategy. It’s a very good point – domination being domination (but one that Techdirt, obtusely or deliberately, doesn’t seem to get). On one hand, it’s perhaps a good thing that there’s a dominant retailer to stand up to wholesalers who are seemingly colluding. On the other hand, a competitive marketplace, with no DRM walled gardens to splinter the market, would be much better.
