God Wants His Royalty Check

In a development that will seem dismayingly familiar to opponents of Crown copyright, the Vatican is apparently now enforcing the copyright it asserts over the Church’s publications, including Pope Benedict’s words, such as his recently published Encyclical, “God is Love”. Much more than Love, apparently – since under Church doctrine, the Pope is more or less God’s voice on Earth, one can’t really escape the conclusion that the Lord has come down on the side of – ahem – the creators.
