Taking a Page From the Copyright Lobby?

Or several, as it appears. Michael Geist has written the post that I wanted to on Liberal MP Sarmite Bulte’s Toronto Star article on Sunday (not yet online) expressing her views on copyright reform. As I read the article I began to get the distinct impression that I had read much of it before in various CRIA press releases, statements and the like. And indeed that turns out to be the case – Michael lays out some vivid examples.

It’s also notable that the piece was not published until yesterday – the day before the election – even though it’s a rehash and the campaign finance controversy has been bubbling for weeks now. The better to avoid any response? No longer, it seems – Michael’s post was quickly picked up by both Techdirt and Boing Boing.
