Wireless Number Portability, Redux Part Deux

Michael Geist has an article in the Star this week on the WNP controversy. One of the aspects of the carriers’ plans he targets is their assertion that migration to WNP must occur everywhere in the system simultaneously. This requirement means that it happens nowhere until it is ready wherever it takes the longest to organize. When I first saw the plan I noticed this requirement and immediately thought it odd - it seems patently unnecessary, and quite at odds with the idea of a rapid rollout. Michael’s post explores this and other aspects of the issue in considerable detail.
