The Globe on Wireless Number Portability
I’ve ridden the Globe this week for being AWOL on the story of the appallingly slow implementation schedule for WNP being proposed by the industry.
Matt Ingram covers the story today with a good piece (paid sub. required) that ends on the following note:
U.S. carriers dragged their feet on making the change for 5 five years — presumably we are supposed to be grateful that our carriers only want to do so for two years. But if Canadian wireless telcos had started preparing when the U.S. did, we would have wireless number portability by now. Instead, we get to watch them engage in their usual delaying tactics.
