Under Pressure

In June I wrote a short piece on the emergence of what appeared to be a campaign by CRIA to target Michael Geist personally, presumably because of his vocal opposition to pro-industry amendment of the Copyright Act.

The Ryerson Review of Journalism has recently featured an article by Shlomit Kriger titled “Under Pressure” and subtitled “How savvy, aggressive special-interest groups are exploiting people’s distrust of journalists to slant the news their way”. The article features several paragraphs on CRIA’s (rather clumsy, surely?) efforts to use the media to paint Michael as an ‘opportunistic commentator chasing media attention’.
