The Chilling Power of IP Infringement Fear
With the rise of the DMCA-society we’ve seen many examples in recent years of the chilling power of the fear of IP infringement. Today, boingboing reports the bizarre news that Walmart is refusing to print digital images that it considers (well, “feels”, actually) to have been professionally shot. This out of an apparent fear of liability for infringement claims from professional photographers.
If I could type in a long pause for dramatic effect, I would. Folks, it’s time we all took a deep breath.
