Forcing Digital Music Standards
Now that all those Members of Congress have new iPods they seem to be getting steamed about difficulties in DRM standardization. Hence, I suppose, the rather surprising Congressional Subcommittee Hearing on ‘Digital Music Interoperability and Availability’, in which mandatory compatibility of DRM standards is being discussed.
Not to worry, according to industry players, because “the music industry will eventually promote interoperability itself without the need for government intervention”.
Because, you know, that’s what they do.
