David Fraser and I were emailing yesterday about the recent rash of security breaches and he made the point that many of them could have been averted with simple disk encryption using the built-in capabilities of Windows XP. Today he’s blogged the idea and listed recent disclosures that could have been avoided. It’s an eye-opening read.
Coincidentally Declan McCullagh makes the same point today apropos of a recent incident in which police improperly gained access to personal information stored on a phone.
