My friend Denise Shortt is helping to organize the 2005 "Youth in Motion" Women in Politics and Government Conference. The event is sponsored by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, Bell Canada, and the Ontario Women’s Directorate.
Through roundtable discussions, interactive workshops, keynote presentations, and panel discussions with women working in politics and government, this non-partisan event will enable high school girls to interact with more than 35 women working in various areas of politics and government.
Denise is looking for women in all levels of government, politics, public service (as well as corp. gov’t relations, political journalism, etc.) who are interested in volunteering as career role models for the conference.
This year’s events are in Ottawa on March 30 and in Toronto on April 14. Denise tells me that in the past these events have been hugely successful, with an excellent roster of speakers and female professional mentors/role models.
