US Audit Firms Dropping Their Clients in Droves

The NYT is reporting that Sarbanes-Oxley is dramatically increasing the work and fees that auditors generate from their clients, and that for a variety of reasons, they are severely culling their client lists.

Weren’t the auditors vocal opponents of Sarbanes-Oxley because of the damage the auditor independence rules would (they promised) do to their businesses?
