Facial Recognition Technology for Handhelds
Via Wired, a story about a handheld implementation of facial recognition technology being used by LAPD to profile suspects quickly, eg on the street. See suspect, point camera at suspect, software recognizes face and indicates probability of match, result=probable cause or not.
Predictably, the city attorney quoted sees no privacy issues. QOD:
"If you are standing in the street, you have no expectation of privacy". Odd to see the police aligned with the point of view of the paparazzi.
