The Rise of Barack Obama

I still remember everything about the first time I heard him speak – during the Democratic National Convention.  A strong wind blew through the room, clearing away all of the cobwebs, all of the dust, everything that had accumulated for years.  In just a few sentences, he told you that tomorrow was going to be different.  The hair on the back of my neck stood up, Vicky and I looked at each other, not saying anything, eyes wide open.  If you cared about the way things work in Washington, and you were frustrated with the Bush Presidency and the PAC-ization of US politics, at that moment your heart stopped and you thought oh my – now, this is going to be interesting.
